DJ Girl Wonder is insured, fully equipped and ready to play for your special event, dance or party. She focuses on engaging guests with dance activities, line dances and games that encourage everyone to get up and dance. As an experienced dance instructor, she is available to provide group dance lessons and perform at your event.

Valerie regularly attends conferences, meetings and lectures in her never-ending quest to stay current and track trends. A few years ago, she completed college-accredited DJ classes at Scottsdale Community College to further enrich her DJ skills, then served on the Advisory Committee for the SCC accredited DJ Program (now at MCC).

She is frequently asked to spin at private events, night clubs, dance studios and corporate events. Outside of Arizona, she has guest DJ'd in the Washington DC area, Kauai Hawaii, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Jose, Irvine and San Diego and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Her extensive knowledge of musical genres and creative song selection continue to delight guests of all ages, cultures and backgrounds.

DJ Girl Wonder spins regularly for Phoenix Hustle events, and has guest DJ'd at Lindy Shrine, Kats Korner, Al Moro, Club Red Swing, the Phoenix and Tucson Lindy Exchanges, the Swing Lounge at Fahrenheit, and the Greater Phoenix Swing Dance Club (WCS).

DJ Girl Wonder has been contracted for events at resorts such as the Arizona Grand, AZ Biltmore, Marriott's Camelback Inn, Doubletree, and at large venues such as Falcon Field, Lathe House Pavilion, El Zaribah and VFW. She is often hired to spin at Art Detour, First Friday, private homes as well as dance studios/ballrooms such Ambiant, Paragon, NRG, Kaleidoscope, Arthur Murray, Al Moro, Academy of Ballroom Dance, and Fat Cat.

DJ Education:

Six DJ classes at Scottsdale Community College in AZ: This is the first DJ program in the country to award an accredited college DJ degree. 

1) Live-Performance Disc Jockey Techniques.  Fall 2009
Development of beginning level live-performance disc jockey techniques. Emphasis on understanding the construction of industry-formatted dance songs, cueing, segueing/mixing methods, the relationship of beats per minute to segueing, and programming songs to entertain a live audience. Covers the history of the live performance DJ and strategies for soliciting employment in the field. Instructor: DJ Rob Wegner


2) Turntablism: The Art of the Scratch DJ. Spring and Fall 2010
Covers the skills required in vinyl manipulation; examines the development of turntable techniques and the contributions made by individual turntable artists. Instructor: DJ "Ruthless" Ramsey Higgins. YouTube: Spring 2010 final performance and Fall 2010 final performance

3) Digital DJ Performance Techniques. Fall 2009 and 2010
Covers the skills required for live performance; examines and provides experience in the development of turntable and digital media techniques. Instructor: DJ Emile in 2009 and Benjamin Cutswell in 2010

4) Beatmatching  Fall 2012. Beatmatching by ear using only two turntables, or two CDJs. DJ Tranzit
